Numerical Analysis of the Deformation Behavior of Geogrid-Reinforced MSE Wall Having FHR and SPT Wall Facing

The mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) wall has been widely used globally for several decades now. study on MSE is continuously growing as well various innovations its designs and techniques. natural complexity of soil behavior makes the system challenging researchers. One factors that affect deformation structure facing system. Hence, this undertaken to investigate geogrid-reinforced wall, having full height rigid (FHR) segmental panel-type (SPT) facing, using finite element method (FEM) in Plaxis 2D program small-scale experimental study. Both numerical models are discrete geogrids reinforcement with three different length ratios 1H, 0.7H 0.5H (where H height). results from series analysis tests showed vertical displacement top horizontal displacements FHR were smaller than those SPT regardless length. In addition, minimal effect settlement but more visible facing. magnitude may not be great because only 0.60m high. But it expected higher might induce greater effect.
